The Federal Government will deliver the SSI payment for low-income Americans on May 1, 2025. It will be the same payday whether you qualify for having a disability, being blind, or being at least 65 years old. That is the main difference to Social Security’s payment schedule. Retirees and SSDI recipients do not collect their direct deposits on the same payday.
Anyway, there is good news for those SSI recipients who are also receiving Social Security benefits. The May 3 payday has been rescheduled. Since May 3 falls on the weekend, the Administration had to make a minor change. The May 3 payday has been set for May 2. Therefore, there will be a retirement or SSDI payment 24 hours in advance.
Who can receive $1,450 from SSI on May 2?
Some recipients get a reduction and they do not qualify for the full Supplemental Security Income. This happens when you are receiving other benefits, pensions or you have money on hand.
Thus, if you get a reduction from Social Security, you will not get the full amount. Only those who meet all the income and resource requirements can get up to $1,450 if they are married.
Of course, if you are married, you must both qualify to get SSI payments either with the full or reduced amount. Those who have a low income and limited resources can apply for this Federal benefit if they cannot make ends meet.
Who will receive $967 from SSI on May 2?
These will be the maximum Supplemental Security Income for recipients who get no reductions. Hence, they can get up to $967. The maximum benefit for eligible married couples is $483 higher than the SSI payment for individuals.
So, if you are married it is more convenient to apply for both recipients. Obviously, this is only possible if you both meet the key conditions. By now, you must be wondering in States supplement SSI direct deposits.
As a matter of fact, it is likely to receive a higher Supplemental Security payment if your States supplement payments.
