April 16 will be when the second round of Wednesday payments will be delivered in the United States. RSDI recipients can get Retirement, Survivor or Disability Insurance benefits. However, if you are on SSDI you can only receive up to $4,018 and Survivor benefits are only about $1,547 on average. So it is unlikely they qualify for this large payment.
Therefore, the maximum RSDI benefit on April 16 will be for some eligible retired workers. So, these retirees can collect up to $5,108 if they meet all the conditions the Social Security Administration has set in 2025.
Even if it is really challenging, some high earners have been able to achieve it. The thing is knowing the requirements can help you boost your future retirement payments if you have not filed yet.
RSDI payments average $1,839, far from $5,108
The average payment amount for RSDI is $1,839. No doubt this is a really good amount of money, but what are the requirements to get up to $5,108 in 2025? Social Security claims that there 4 essential conditions:
- get jobs covered by Social Security and ensure you pay payroll taxes. Check the SSA Statement to spot any errors that could decrease your future payment
- make sure you earn the contribution and benefit base for 35 years. It is also known as the taxable maximum and it is $176,100 in 2025
- not working for at least 35 years reduces your RSDI payments
- file for RSDI (retirement in this case) at the age of 70
The lessons workers can learn from these requirements are the following ones. The higher your payment in covered jobs, the higher your RSDI payment will be. The more you delay filing to get your monthly payment, the higher it will be until you turn 70.
Eligibility for RSDI payment on April 16
If you are on SSI benefits, you are not eligible for the April payment on the 16th. Those RSDI recipients who started collecting Social Security before May 1997 do not qualify either.
Hence, to be eligible you must:
- remain eligible
- not break SSA rules
- have been born from the 11th to the 20th, regardless of the month or year you were born
- not have received benefits before May 1997
- not be on Supplemental Security Income
April 23 will be the last RSDI payday in April. For your information, this payment will also be based on the date of your birth date. So, if you were born from the 21st to the 31st you will also be able to get a payment.
In fact, this last group of recipients who meet the strict conditions SSA set may also get up to $5,108 from the Social Security Administration. All the payments will be deposited on time. If your payment is missing or late, report it after waiting for at least 3 mailing days. But contact your bank first.
