The Social Security Administration (SSA) is about to deliver new checks and direct deposits to retirees. According to its 2025 payment schedule, retirement benefit payments will be in eligible recipients’ bank accounts or mailboxes on March 3, 12, 19 or 26.
No Social Security payment on March 3, 2025? Here are the main reasons why this may be the case. If you are not receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and retirement benefits simultaneously, you may not qualify. The second reason why you may not be eligible is because you did not start getting payments before May 1997, but later.
Social Security on March 12
Many retirees will not receive their benefit payment until March 12, 2025. This is for those retirees who are not receiving both SSI and retirement and who filed after April 30, 1997.
What is more, they must have their birthday on specific days. Those who were born from the 1st to the 10th will be the first to receive the Wednesday round of checks and deposits.
On average, retirees can get about $1,978 from the Social Security Administration. However, if you only worked for the minimum number of years and your wage was lower-than-average, you may get a lot less.
Social Security on March 19 or March 26
Some retirees will have to wait for over 2 weeks to receive their retirement benefit payment. You are in this situation if the way you qualify for your direct deposit or check is through your birthday and your birth date is from the 11th to the 20th.
To get the last Social Security payment in March, you must have been born from the 21st to the 31st. This payment will not be yours if you are on SSI or you started getting benefits before May 1997.
If you were a high earner for 35 years or longer, you could get up to $2,831 if you filed at 62. Those wealthy workers who meet all the requirements and filed at Full Retirement Age can get up to $4,018. At 70, you can receive up to $5,108 in March 2025.
