Social Security average payments in retirement are $1,978. However, this is the average amount, as of January 2025, for retired workers. For your information, not just retired workers can receive monthly payments from the Administration.

Thus, if you are a spouse of a retired worker on Social Security and you were born from the 21st to the 31st, you will get your payment on the 26th. Those on SSI and retirement benefits qualify for the March 3 payment though.

If you also have qualifying children, they can get about $919.02 on average. Obviously, they must also meet all the requirements to get money from Social Securiy in 2025.

Requirements to get Social Security spousal benefits

If you are not eligible for the spousal benefit payments in February because you have never filed for Social Security, check your eligibility. Keep in mind that $931 is just an average amount.
