Social Security announces SSI and retirement payments for February

Although more than 7 million Americans receive Supplemental Security Income payments, many Americans are still missing out on SSI payments. However, those who qualify for a benefit payment on January 31, 2025, may also be collecting Social Security retirement or disability benefits.

This is achievable when you have a low income and few resources. Those Americans with a limited income and limited resources who get both monthly payments receive SSI on the first day of the month and Social Security on the third. However, February 1 cannot be the usual payday because it is Saturday.

SSI will also be issued in February

The Social Security Administration’s payment schedule also brings good news for February. All SSI recipients who remain eligible will receive their March payment on February 28, 2025.

Since March 1 is Saturday, the SSA had to reschedule this monthly payment, and will be delivered on the previous business day. Undoubtedly, getting your payment ahead of schedule has positive things if you have run out of money by then.

Those who started receiving Social Security before May 1997 but are not on SSI, will receive retirement benefits on February 3 as well. After February 3 will be three more paydays for retirees on the second, third, and fourth Wednesday.

SSI payment amounts in the next payments

The lowest Supplemental Security Income payment is usually for essential persons. For example, after the 2025 COLA increase, they can only receive monthly payments of up to $484. individuals have larger maximum amounts.

For example, the maximum SSI payment an individual can receive in February or March is $967. The previous amount was $943 in 2024. Thus, all recipients who qualify for the full amount receive $24 extra per month.

Only eligible married couples can get a monthly payment of up to $1,450. For your information, receiving a supplement in some States may be likely. So, it is advisable to ask about it when you apply for the Supplemental Security Income program.
