Social Security Disability Insurance payments will be sent in April on 4 different paydays. SSDI recipients must remain eligible to receive one of these monthly payments. This is because it is essential to continue having a disability to receive them. Thus, as soon as your health improves, you must report it to the Administration.

SSDI payments are for workers who have paid enough taxes and who have not been able to work for over a year due to their disability. This medical condition must meet Social Security’s strict definition of disability.

Who will receive the first SSDI payments in April?

This monthly Social Security Disability Insurance payment, on April 3, 2025, will not be for those who started receiving SSDI benefits after April 30, 1997. It will be for those who began getting disability benefits before May 1997.

Also, it will be the SSDI payday for American workers receiving disability benefits and SSI simultaneously. Therefore, they receive Supplemental Security Income on April 1 and Social Security on April 3, 2025.

As for the average amount, $1,580 is what SSDI recipients get approximately. However, if you were a high earner for many years, you may get a lot more from Social Security. In fact, Disability Insurance payments can be up to $4,018 in 2025.

SSDI on April 9, 16 & 23

The Administration has confirmed the Wednesday paydays for Disability Insurance. In this case, those who began receiving benefits after April 30, 1997 and who are not on SSI need their birth date to know their payday.

For example, if you were born early in the month, your payday will be due on April 9, 2025. However, if you were born on the last days of the month, you will receive SSDI on April 23, 2025.

Those Disability Insurance recipients born in the middle of the month collect Social Security on April 16th. The exact dates for the payday are:

  • Disability Insurance payment on April 9: birth date 1-10
  • Disability Insurance payment due on April 16: birth date 11-20
  • Disability Insurance payment due on April 23: birth date 31-31
