Retirees calendar February 2025 Social Security Payments

Since the February payment for SSI has been scheduled by Social Security for January 31, you will see no payday on February 1, 2025. However, the Administration has confirmed a payment for SSI on February 28. As you may have guessed, it is the March payment ahead of schedule.

Social Security will issue or schedule payments in advance when they fall on Saturdays, Sundays, or holidays. Thus, you will generally receive payments on business days. For your information, some retirees also qualify for SSI, which is why it is important to inform about these checks first.

Social Security & February payments retirees

Retirees will receive a Social Security payment on February 3 if they are receiving both retirement and Supplemental Security Income benefits. Nevertheless, this is not the only way to qualify.

Actually, the other way to receive Social Security on the third has to do with the date when you started collecting payments. Those retirees who got benefits before May 1997, will also qualify for the Feb. 3 payment.

If you do not qualify for Social Security on the third, you monthly payment will be issued on either February 12, 19 or 26. In fact, the earlier in the month you were born, the sooner your check or direct deposit will be issued.

Social Security from February 12-26 Checks

The last three paydays will be for those who started collecting retirement benefits after April 30 1997 and who do not qualify for Supplemental Security Income benefits.

If you were born from the 1st to the 10th, you will get Social Security on February 12. It will be one week later, on February 19, if your birthday falls from 11-20. Those born after the 20th will get their check or direct deposit on February 26.

As for the average amounts in retirement next February, retirees can get about $1,976. Retirees with lower payments can apply for SSI and SNAP simultaneously. High earners can opt for the maximum payments in retirement in 2025:

  • at 62: up to $2,831
  • at Full Retirement Age: up to $4,018
  • at 70: up to $5,108

Are there specific state mandates that affect Social Security payment dates?

Social Security is administered at the federal level by the Social Security Administration (SSA), and payment dates are determined by federal regulations rather than state laws. In other words, there are no specific state mandates that change or control the schedule on which Social Security benefits are paid.

Most retirement, survivors, and disability beneficiaries receive their payments according to a schedule based on their birth date:

  • If your birthday falls on the 1st–10th of the month, payments usually arrive on the second Wednesday.
  • If your birthday falls on the 11th–20th, payments usually arrive on the third Wednesday.
  • If your birthday falls on the 21st–31st, payments usually arrive on the fourth Wednesday.

Other Federal Guidelines: If your payment date coincides with a federal holiday, the payment is typically issued the day before the holiday.

Some beneficiaries (especially those who started receiving benefits before 1997) may still receive their benefits on the 3rd of each month, and anyone receiving both SSI (Supplemental Security Income) and SSDI (Social Security Disability Insurance) might get those benefits on different dates.
