Are you an RSDI recipient? If so, you can receive a retirement, survivor, or disability insurance payment on April 16, 2026. This could be your payday if your birthday is from the 11th to the 20th. Bear in mind that this will only be your payday if you are not on Supplemental Security Income and you started collecting any of these benefits after April 30, 1997.

Therefore, this April 16 payment will be for those who have filed recently, unless they file for SSI. If you are on SSI and RSDI, your next payday will be on May 2, 2025, and SSI on May 1, 2025. Some RSDI recipients may qualify for the last April payment. Again, this payday will be for those who meet the birth date requirements.

RSDI payment available on April 23

The Social Security Administration (SSA) will deposit the last payment on April 23, 2025, if you were born from the 21st to the 31st. Thus, all retirement, survivor and disability recipients who were born after the 20th will be looking forward to receiving their monthly payment on the 26th.

If you are not on Social Security yet, you need to file before you can get a monthly payment on the third day of the month or on the 2nd, 3rd or 4th Wednesday of the month.

In general, you will need to get at least 40 work credits to get retirement benefits. If your parents or spouse pass away, you can also receive survivor benefits on their record if they paid enough taxes.

SSDI recipients may be eligible for Disability Insurance if they worked and paid enough taxes to Social Security the moment their disability appears. Are all RSDI payment amounts the same? In fact, they are.

RSDI payment amounts

It will depend on the work you had, your wage and the number of years you worked for, whether you get a higher or lower payment amount. RSDI average payments are:

  • retirees: average payments worth $1,980
  • SSDI recipients: average payments worth $1,580
  • Survivors: $1,547 for all recipients

Do not forget that the maximum payment is up to $5,108, but it is only for retirees who paid enough taxes and earned the taxable maximum for 35 years. No doubt, they will also have to file at 70. Filing earlier means getting less money. For example, if you file at the age of 62, you can receive about 30% less.

RSDI payment may last for the whole life as long as you remain eligible and you do not break Social Security rules. Not sure if you qualify? Download a free Statement through the my Social Security online account.
