Three groups of SSDI recipients will need to wait for their Wednesday payment because they do not qualify for a check or direct deposit on April 3, 2025. This is the Social Security Disability Insurance program and it is only for those who got SSA approval and remain eligible.

Therefore, having a qualifying disability that meets the strict definition given by SSA is a must. Not to mention the fact that you must have paid payroll taxes before you can even start receiving SSDI benefits.

Are you eligible for SSDI on April 3, 2025?

One of the two ways to receive the Social Security Disability Insurance payment is to have started collecting benefits before May 1997. Hence, you must have been on benefits for over 28 years so far.

An easier way to qualify and the only one for those who have recently filed for SSDI is to be receiving Supplemental Security Income in the United States. So, you get SSI on April 3, 2025, and Social Security on April 3, 2025.

SSDI beneficiaries who are not on SSI and who have begun getting Social Security after April 30, 1997, need to wait for checks or direct deposit on the following Wednesdays:

  • April 9: born 1-10
  • April 16: birthday 11-20
  • April 23: birth date from 21-31

Were you are high earner and you get SSDI now?

In fact, to get $4,018 from the Social Security Disability Insurance, you must have been a really high earners for a few decades. Generally, you must have worked for 35 years in jobs covered by SSA.

If you meet that requirement, you must have also earned the taxable maximum (contribution and benefit base) for 35 years too. The age you file also matters, since early filing reduces your SSDI payment.

Social Security pays about $1,580 on average to SSDI recipients. An important thing to know is the fact that your spouse and children may also qualify for Disability Insurance benefits on your record.
