The IRS Has a Crisis And Your Refund Might Be Caught in the Middle

If you were born from the first to the tenth, you may receive Social Security Disability Insurance (SSD) payments on February 12, 2025. Therefore, you will still have to wait for about 10 days to receive this money in the United States. This benefit could come in the form of a check or direct deposit. The reason why you may not receive this payment on February, 12, 2025, even if you meet the birthday requirement is simple.

It is because you either received disability benefits before May 1997, or because you are a recipient of both Social Security and Supplemental Security Income. For your information, you could receive your SSDI benefit payment on February 3 if you are in this situation. So, you could receive your disability benefit payment in less than 24 hours.

First round of SSDI payments on Wednesdays

Wednesday, February 12 will bring payments of up to $4,018. However, to receive so much money from the Social Security Administration you must have filed as late as SSA requires, worked for 35 years in jobs covered by the Agency which provided you with the taxable maximum all these years.

Hence, it is unlikely most workers get this huge check or direct deposit. In fact, average payments are much lower. As of January 2025, the average SSDI payment is worth $1,580, up from $1,542.

Due to the 2025 Cost-of-Living Adjustment, SSDI benefits have gone up by 2.5%. That implies receiving about $38 extra per month, or a total of 456 dollars extra per year.

What if I do not get SSDI on Feb. 3 or 12?

It is likely that some Social Security Disability Insurance do not receive their check or deposit on February 3 or 12. The main reasons why you get benefits later in the month are these 2:

  • you were born from the 11-20 or from the 21-31
  • you began collecting disability insurance benefits after April 30, 1997

If you have not received your Social Security Disability Insurance payment on the exact date, you should wait for up to three mailing days before you contact the Administration. It is advisable to contact your bank or financial institution first because they may have difficulties in processing payment for any technical issues. However, all payments are expected on time.
