If you are receiving only SSI or SNAP benefits, you should know that Social Security and USDA allow eligible recipients to get both monthly payments at the same time. Believe it or not, there are still many American citizens missing out on one of these two checks.

Therefore, it is time to check if you qualify for Supplemental Security Income and for SNAP payments simultaneously. Remember that to receive SSI, you must have a low income and little to no resources. What is more, you must have either a qualifying disability, be blind, or at least 65 years old.

Requirements to get SNAP payments in 2025

First of all, you can only apply for Food Stamps in the State where you are currently living. Then, you should check if you qualify. For example, do you meet the income limits that USDA established?

Income limits involve gross and net income. However, if you are already receiving SSI or TANF, you may be deemed “categorically eligible” for SNAP benefits. The reason why it is like that is simple, you are receiving another means-tested program.

When it comes to resources, most household have a $3,000 limit. So, that is the maximum they could have on hand or in the bank account. If you are aged 60 or have a disability, or someone in your household, it goes up to $4,500. Contact your local office to apply now: https://www.fns.usda.gov/snap/state-directory
