Social Security benefits in the United States arrive soon but only for eligible recipients

Retirement benefit payments are about to be in some Social Security recipients’ bank accounts. However, some retirees will not get their checks until February 26, 2025. This is because the Administration has set this payday for beneficiaries who were born from the 21st to the 31st and who started receiving payments after April 30, 1997.

Still, your Social Security payment will be sent on time. So, you will just need to wait a little longer than others to receive your monthly payment. So, who will receive retirement benefits first in February 2025?

Social Security checks on February 3, 2025

Some retirees will receive Social Security checks on February 3 if they began collecting benefit payments before May 1997. Therefore, these recipients have been receiving payments for about 28 years.

If you have recently filed for Social Security, you may also qualify for the February 3 payment. Nevertheless, you must be collecting both Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and retirement benefits from SSA.

For your information, SSI payments are only for low-income Americans. Thus, if you have limited income and limited resources, you can file for SSI as well even if you get retirement benefits.

Social Security on February 12 & 19

If you are neither the first nor the last to receive your retirement benefit payments, you could get a check on the 12th or the 19th. Once again, just like for the Wednesday payment on the 26th, you will need to meet the birthday requirement.

Were you born from the 11th to the 20th? Then, your retirement check will be issued on February 19, 2025. But if you were born from the 1st to the 10th, your payments will be in your bank account on February 12, 2025.

The average Social Security payment for all retired workers in February will be about $1,976. Those retired workers who were high earners can receive a lot more. Checks can be up to $5,108 in 2025.
