IRS and PFD payments continue in the U.S.

IRS and PFD payments continue in the U.S.

Eligible taxpayers can get money from the IRS or from the PFD. Alaskan may get money from both Agencies. Bear in mind that the State of Alaska Department of Revenue, through the Permanent Fund Dividend has announced that there is a new payment of $1,702 on April 17. Of course, this is only possible if you filed and you have not received it yet.

To know if your Permanent Fund Dividend payment is due on April 17, check your status online. As of April 9, it must state “Eligible-Not Paid”. If you are not eligible for this payday, and you are still waiting for your money, check your PFD status again on May 7, 2025. It will say whether you are eligible or not for the May 15 payment. If you filed about 3 weeks ago, you may also get an IRS payment on April 17.

Who can receive an IRS refund payment on April 17?

Some taxpayers can receive their 2024 tax refund on April 17. Of course, they must be eligible for a refund since not all American citizens qualify. It will depend on your tax liability, your tax withholding, the tax credits you qualify for, income, and children or dependents among other factors.

  • If you filed your return on March 27: the IRS may issue a refund on April 17
  • If you filed your return on March 28: the Agency may issue a refund on April 18
  • If you filed your return on March 29: the Agency may issue a refund on April 19
  • If you filed your return on March 30: the Agency may issue a refund on April 20
  • If you filed your return on March 31: the Agency may issue a refund on April 21
  • If you filed your return on April 1: the IRS may issue a refund on April 22

Do you qualify? It will depend on your personal situation. Those who get a refund on April 17 generally have filed 21 days before that date. Electronic filing is necessary to avoid delays.

What is more, it is vital to request a direct deposit rather than a paper check. Do not forget that inaccurate, incomplete, or erroneous returns may also imply longer wait times.

Can I still claim the PFD payment?

The last day to claim the 2025 Permanent Fund Dividend payment was March 31, 2025. However, it will be possible to file for this money if you meet the requirements the Department of Revenue established in Alaska.

Although the PFD amount is $1,702 for the 2024 payment, it could be a completely different payment amount for the 2025 deposit. If you do not want to miss the next PFD payment in Alaska, apply for it as soon as it opens on January 1, 2025.

Taxpayers who have not filed the 2024 yet and are not required to do so may qualify for an IRS refund too. Hire a tax professional or get free support from the IRS to find out more about your eligibility for any tax credit.
