Although many taxpayers are eager to know the exact time of day they can receive money from the IRS, it is not possible to know. The Internal Revenue Service does not specify exact times.

Therefore, there are no fixed times or hours when you can receive your 2024 tax refund during the 2025 Tax Season. However, if your return is accurate and complete and everything is fine, it is possible to know it may arrive after a certain number of days. However, you must have filed electronically and requested a direct deposit to get your refund as fast as possible.

How long can IRS tax refunds typically take?

Currently, a tax refund is typically issued within 21 days if you asked for a direct deposit and you filed electronically. Bear in mind that this timing may be different if you requested one of these 2 credits.

For example, if you applied for either the Earned Income Tax Credit or the Additional Child Tax Credit, the IRS claims that cannot issue these refunds before mid-February.

Therefore, it will not be until March 3, 2025, when most Earned Income Tax Credits or the Additional Child Tax Credits will be delivered together with your tax refund.

IRS & Where’s my refund?

Ïf you are eager to know if your 2024 tax refund will be paid this week, check its status on the IRS website. It can be easily done through the “Where’s my refund?” tool.

Do not log in to check your tax refund status more than once per day. Actually, the IRS only provides taxpayers with updates once per day. Usually, these updates take place overnight.

So, if you check it in the morning, that will be enough. Keep in mind that banks and financial institutions may have different processing times. Thus, it will depend on how fast they can process your tax refund payment whether you get it faster or longer.
