SNAP Benefits at Risk Due to the Government Shutdown: What’s Happening With Your Food Stamps

A Proposed $200 Monthly Boost for Social Security Is Being Debated in the Congress

The Social Security Administration (SSA) has issued the official calendar for the 2025 months of the Supplement Security Income (SSI) program. For millions who receive this vital cash, it is important to know this calendar to help plan your money for the year ahead. The SSI payments are normally paid on the first of each month.

But, under a rule that has been around for a long time, if the first is on a weekend or on a federal holiday, then the check will go out on the day before. That means what many say is a “double check,” but really is an early check of the next month.

The SSA points out that this is a pay in advance, and it is not extra money. And, you will not get a check the next month. Here’s a look at the confirmed plan for the last part of 2025.

SSI Payment Dates for August to December 2025

If you’re expecting a payment in September, well, there’s a surprise: the deposit was already done in August 29th, making that month one with dual payments, and October one without any payments at all.

But because November 1 is on a Saturday, people will get an early gift. The November benefit will be sent out on Friday, October 31. So, there will be no check in November. The money that is sent out on October 31 is for November. The year will end with December’s check on its normal date, Monday, December. 1.

In addition, because New Year’s Day (Jan. 1, 2026) is a holiday, the SSA will send the January 2026 SSI early on Wednesday, December 31, 2025. So, there will be no check in January 2026. Those who give advice to people getting the SSI strongly tell them to plan their money around these dates.

  • Key Dates (August–December 2025):
    • August 29, 2025: September payment sent early → no payment in September.
    • October 31, 2025: November payment sent early → no payment in November.
    • December 1, 2025: Regular December payment.
    • December 31, 2025: January 2026 payment sent early → no payment in January 2026.
  • Maximum SSI amounts for 2025:
    • $967 for an individual.
    • $1,450 for a couple.
    • $484 for an essential person.

Quick Overview on SSI: What’s All About?

The SSI program pays a monthly check to adults and children with disabilities or blindness, and the aged that have limited income and resources. The payments are a lifesaver for some of the poorest people, helping them pay for food, clothes, and housing.

All payments are made automatically, either through a direct deposit into a bank account or by mail as a paper check. The official calendar published by the SSA is the proper source for this information. If you want personalized information or if you have any questions about your own benefits, the agency recommends you contact them at 1-800-772-1213 or go to their full website at www.ssa.gov.

The maximum SSI benefits are $967 for a single recipient, but, if a couple file together for the benefit, they can claim up to $1,450. For an essential person, the top allotment is $484.
