Social Security Payments Next Week: SSI Arrives Early on October 30 and the Last October Deposit Lands on the 28th

Millions of Americans who depend on Social Security will see money hit their bank accounts during the week of October 26 to November 1, 2026. The Social Security Administration (SSA) has two deposits on the calendar: the last regular retirement, survivor and disability payment of October, and an early November payment for people who receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI).

Knowing exactly which day applies to you helps avoid unnecessary calls to the SSA and makes it easier to plan rent, utilities and other bills that come due at the start of the month.

Wednesday, October 28: the last Social Security payment of October

The SSA pays most retirement, survivor and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits on a Wednesday schedule that depends on the beneficiary’s date of birth. October 28 is the fourth Wednesday of the month, and it is reserved for people born between the 21st and the 31st of any month.

This group closes out the October cycle. Earlier in the month, beneficiaries born between the 1st and the 10th were paid on October 14, and those born between the 11th and the 20th were paid on October 21.

  • Born on the 1st to the 10th: second Wednesday of the month.
  • Born on the 11th to the 20th: third Wednesday of the month.
  • Born on the 21st to the 31st: fourth Wednesday of the month (October 28).

For spouses who receive benefits based on a partner’s work record, the payment date is determined by the birth date of the worker whose record the benefit is based on, not by the spouse’s own birthday.

Friday, October 30: SSI recipients get November’s money early

SSI payments are normally deposited on the 1st of each month. In 2026, however, November 1 falls on a Sunday. When the regular payment date lands on a weekend or federal holiday, the SSA moves the deposit to the previous business day. As a result, the November SSI payment will be sent on Friday, October 30.

This means many SSI recipients will see two deposits in October: the regular October payment on October 1 and the early November payment on October 30. It is not a bonus or an extra check. The October 30 deposit is the money meant to cover November, so recipients should budget accordingly, because there will be no SSI deposit on November 1.

In 2026 the maximum federal SSI payment is $994 a month for an individual and $1,491 for an eligible couple, according to the SSA. Some states add a supplement on top of the federal amount.

What about people paid on the 3rd?

Beneficiaries who began receiving Social Security before May 1997, and those who receive both Social Security and SSI, are generally paid on the 3rd of the month. In November 2026 the 3rd falls on a Tuesday, so that payment will arrive as scheduled on November 3, just after next week ends.

November payment dates at a glance

After next week, the November calendar continues on its usual pattern:

  • November 3: pre-May 1997 beneficiaries and those receiving both Social Security and SSI.
  • November 11: born on the 1st to the 10th.
  • November 18: born on the 11th to the 20th.
  • November 25: born on the 21st to the 31st.

The 3.6% raise is not in these checks yet

The SSA announced on October 14 that benefits will rise 3.6% through the 2027 cost-of-living adjustment (COLA). That increase does not apply to next week’s payments. According to the agency, higher Social Security benefits begin with the payments made in January 2027, while the increased SSI payments start on December 31, 2026.

What to do if your payment does not arrive

The SSA recommends waiting three additional mail days before contacting the agency about a missing payment. Before calling, check with your bank and confirm that your direct deposit information is up to date in your my Social Security account. Most beneficiaries receive their money by direct deposit or on a Direct Express debit card, which is usually the fastest and safest option.
