Alaska Sets 2025 PFD Dates: See If You Qualify for the $1,702 Payment

Alaska Sets 2025 PFD Dates: See If You Qualify for the $1,702 Payment

There are some real good news for those living in Alaska! Get ready because the state has secured a 2025 Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD) payment. If you qualify, you will see a nice $1,702 payment coming to you. This is not just a one time lump sum, but the state is dividing it into 2 payments to help folks keep track of the payments over the season. What makes up this amount?

It is a combination of 2 parts: The first and main chunk is your yearly dividend which is $1,403.83. This is paid from the state’s oil and gas revenue. This is the state sharing its natural resource wealth with its residents. The other chunk is an additional $298.17 called an “Energy Relief” refund. This is meant to help with those heating and electric bills that so many folks have to deal with every year.

Alaska Residents to Get $1,702 Stimulus Checks in Two Payments This Fall

Mark your calendars because the first payment is scheduled for September 11, 2025 and the second will be on October 23, 2025. You will only be paid if your application shows as “Eligible-Not Paid” on those dates. How you are paid depends on your choice when you apply, either direct deposit for fast access or a paper check in the mail.

Who actually qualifies for this is pretty specific, as you would imagine. First you have to have been an Alaska resident for the whole of the calendar year of 2024.

The state also wants to see that you intend to stay in Alaska, so they require you to be planning to continue to stay in Alaska. They do understand life happens though. You can still qualify if you were away for more than 180 days only due to allowed reasons like military service, medical care or education.

There is also a physical presence rule: you have to have been in Alaska for 72 consecutive hours at least once during either 2023 or 2024. The only record that keeps you from qualifying is if you had a felony conviction in 2024.

And that is a big one: you had to submit your application for the 2025 PFD before March 31, 2025. If you did not, then you are not eligible for this year. Every person in your household, including children, has to file an individual application to get a payment.

The window to apply for this year’s dividend closed at the end of March and was all online through the portal at pfd.alaska.gov. If you have already applied, it is wise to go in and double-check your info, especially your mailing address and bank info.

A typo can cause you major problems and delay your payment. Here is a quick but important warning about taxes: Alaska will not take a cut of your PFD money but the IRS will. This money is a taxable income on your tax return for next year, so make sure you include it.
