August and September dates for SSDI benefits

August and September dates for SSDI benefits

The final Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) disbursement for August 2025 was distributed on Wednesday, August 27. This final payment of the month was intended exclusively for beneficiaries with a birthdate between the 21st and 31st of any month.

The distribution mechanism for the SSDI payments, defined by the Social Security Administration (SSA), is strictly based on the birthdate range of the individuals receiving the benefit, and who claimed their first payment after May 1997.

August 2025 and its SSDI payments

Funds for people born between the 1st and 10th of any month were disbursed earlier, specifically on Wednesday, August 13th. The corresponding disbursement schedule for those born between the 11th and 20th of the month was completed on Wednesday, August 20th. Thus, the disbursement schedule for the month of August concluded on the scheduled date of the Wednesday the 27th, with no last-minute changes.

The disability benefits is determined individually, not in a massive way. The calculation takes into account the individual’s complete work history and previous earnings on which contributions were made to the system.

This figure is adjusted annually through the Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA), a mechanism intended to offset the impact of inflation and the general rise in the price of goods and services. For 2025, the increase authorized by the COLA was set at 2.5 percent.

Beneficiaries who have not received their funds by the established date must wait three full business days. After this time, it is recommended that they contact the agency directly to report the situation and initiate an investigation. The official phone number for this type of request is 1-800-772-1213.

SSDI disbursement schedule for September 2025

The payment schedule for September of the same year follows the same structure, based on the beneficiaries’ birth date range. Disbursements for those born between the 1st and 10th of any month are scheduled to occur on Wednesday, September 10th, 2025, the second Wednesday of that month. The next group on the schedule, those born between the 11th and 20th, have their payment scheduled for Wednesday, September 17th, the third Wednesday.

The September 2025 payment cycle is scheduled to end on Wednesday, September 24th. All SSDI beneficiaries whose birthdate falls between the 21st and 31st of any month will receive their funds on that date. This organization seeks to spread the agency’s operational burden throughout the month.

Benefit amounts after the 2025 COLA adjustment

The disability benefit amounts distributed throughout 2025 already incorporate the 2.5 percent COLA increase authorized for this period. This adjustment is calculated using data from the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W), corresponding to the third quarter of the previous year. The exact amount each person receives is individual and depends entirely on their individual contribution history.

The maximum monthly benefit that an SSDI beneficiary can receive during 2025 was set at $4,018. This maximum amount is intended for disabled workers who maintained a consistently high earnings record throughout their working lives and who paid the maximum amount subject to Social Security tax for a sufficient number of years. This value is identical to the maximum retirement benefit for those who retire at full age.

On the other hand, the average benefit amount for an SSDI recipient during 2025 is approximately $1,581 per month. This national average represents an increase from the previous year, which averaged around $1,542 per month. It is crucial to understand that this is a statistical average and that a large number of beneficiaries receive amounts below this figure, always depending on their previous wages and years of work contributions.
