If you need to visit your Social Security office in February, check the office closings. Sometimes local offices may close for an emergency. However, it is not the case this time. The Administration has confirmed that all offices will remain closed due to a Federal Holiday.

Although most Americans are aware of the fact that Washington’s Birthday is coming soon, they may not know this year it falls on February 17. Therefore, this Federal Holiday will affect the Administration’s days of operation.

Will Social Security offices be open on February 17, 2025?

Social Security offices will be closed on February 17, 2025. If you still need to get support from the Administration you can make use of the online services the agency offers.

For example, many taxpayers need Forms 1099 or 1042S to file their 2024 federal income tax return. All they need to do is download them from their my Social Security account.

The most urgent thing may be to apply for retirement or SSDI benefits. No worries, the Administration allows Americans to apply for retirement or disability benefits online. Applying for Medicare and appealing a decision online is also possible. Check all the online services at: https://www.ssa.gov/onlineservices/

When will be the next day all Social Security offices be closed after Feb. 17?

It will not be until Monday, May 26, 2025 when Americans will celebrate another Federal Holiday. Therefore, Memorial Day, on May 26, will also be a day when all Social Security offices will be closed.

June 19th will be another closing date. Remember that Americans celebrate Juneteenth National Independence Day. No doubt, no one in American can forget about July 4, 2025.

Independence Day will be celebrated on Friday, July 4, 2025. Thus, it is another date to save to avoid making any arrangements in a Social Security office. Make sure you do it before or after that Federal Holiday.
