The next Social Security payment will be delivered on April 9, 2025. As a matter of fact, it will be deposited on the second Wednesday in April so no changes have been made. Retirees who got their monthly payment on April 3, do not qualify for this payday. If you are on Supplemental Security Income, you are not eligible either.

For your information, the two key conditions that determine eligibility for the Social Security payment on April 9 are 2. First, you must have received approval and benefits after April 30, 1997. Second, you must have been born from the first to the tenth.

Social Security can send up to $5,108

Although American workers may qualify for a really small payment in retirement, some high earners are able to collect a monthly payment of up to $5,108 if:

  • they have worked for 35 years or more
  • they have earned the taxable maximum all these years
  • they have paid enough taxes to Social Security
  • they have applied for retirement benefits at 70

Workers who decide to file at the age of 62 can get up to $2,831. If you prefer to file when you get 100% of your benefits, at Full Retirement Age, you can receive up to $4,018. On average, Social Security payments are worth $1,980 as of February 2024.

Other payment dates for Social Security in April

The Administration will also issue monthly payments on April 16 and on April 23, 2025. Again, the way to qualify for these retirement benefits on the 16th or 23rd has to do with birth dates.

Retirees born from the 11th to the 20th will receive their Social Security payment on the 16th. If your birth date is from the 21st to the 31st, then, your payday will be April 23, 2025.

Those who began collecting retirement benefits before May 1997 or who are receiving SSI at the same time need to wait for the May payment. Social Security has scheduled a payment on May 2 for them.
