SSDI recipients whose birthday is from 21-31 will get their last Disability Insurance on December 24. Social Security has confirmed that the last disability benefit of the year for this program will be sent on the 24th and not on the 25th. Do not forget that SSA never pays checks or direct deposits on the weekend or Federal Holidays.

That is why the last SSDI payment in December will not be due on Christmas Day but on Christmas Eve. This payment is not for those born from the first to the twentieth. Besides, if you are receiving Disability Insurance and Supplemental Security Income, this will not be your payday either.

How much will SSDI recipients get from Social Security?

The amount of your disability benefit will depend on your work history. If you are working and receiving SSDI payments, your amount can also be affected. However, the average check is $1,542.

Actually, there can be much higher payments if you were a high earner. For instance, if you meet all the Social Security requirements, you could get up to $3,822 in 2024.

After the COLA boost, this maximum amount will become $4,018 in 2025. Even if the boost will just be 2.5% for most disability recipients, they follow different rules since they paid more taxes too.

SSDI payments in January 2025 with COLA boost

If you were born from 1-10, your next SSDI payment will be sent on January 8. This will be the first round of Wednesday payments. Nevertheless, there is one which is on January 3 if you:

  • began collecting Disability Insurance from SSA before May 1997
  • are receiving Disability Insurance and Supplemental Security Income at the same time

Those disability beneficiaries who were born from 11-20 will get their monthly payment with 2.5% COLA increase on January 15. The last payday in January for SSDI will be on January 22 if born from 21-31. On average, checks will be about $1,580.
