Social Security Work Credits in 2026: 40 Credits at $1,890 Each and the Exact Requirements for SSDI and SSI

The Social Security Taxable Maximum Hits $184,500 in 2026: Why the Highest Earners Stop Paying at $11,439

During the 2025 Tax Season as of March 14, 2025, the IRS claims that more than 70,000,000 have filed. Still, this figure is lower than during the 2024 tax season because there were about 1.7% more tax returns filed back then.

For your information, the IRS has refunded more than $162.992 billion so far. That is approximately 6.7% more than it was on March 15, 2024. Of this amount, $160.919 billion has been refunded with direct deposits. It is 6.8% higher than in 2024.

IRS Direct Deposits

The average direct deposit refund amount is $3,330 in 2025. Again, this figure is higher. Taxpayers receive about 4.8% more on average than in 2024.

Therefore, it is good news because they are receiving more money on average. No doubt it will be essential to deal with inflation and soaring prices. The IRS has released another important figure.

The average refund amount is $3,271 in 2025, which is about 5.2% higher than last year. Other figures have dropped, but they have nothing to do with payments. For instance, fewer taxpayers have used the IRS website, and fewer have hired a tax professional to file.

IRS Direct Deposit paydays

The sooner you file your tax return, the sooner you will receive your tax refund if you qualify for one. Here are the possible paydays if you have filed your 2024 return in April 2025:

  • 2024 tax return filed on April 2, 2025: Payday may be on April 23
  • 2024 tax return filed on April 3, 2025: Payday may be on April 24
  • 2024 tax return filed on April 4, 2025: Payday may be on April 25
  • 2024 tax return filed on April 5, 2025: Payday may be on April 26
  • 2024 tax return filed on April 6, 2025: Payday may be on April 27
  • 2024 tax return filed on April 7, 2025: Payday may be on April 28
  • 2024 tax return filed on April 8, 2025: Payday may be on April 29
  • 2024 tax return filed on April 9, 2025: Payday may be on April 30

In order to receive an IRS tax refund in April, you must have filed your 2024 tax return in March. If you do not receive your refund within 21 days, there can be errors or the IRS may need to review it. Make sure you stick to the deadlines the Agency has set. In this way you will avoid unnecessary fees or penalties.

IRS and the tax refund status

The Internal Revenue Service generally updates the status of your tax refund overnight. It is only done once per day, so you can see if there have been any changes every morning or afternoon. There is no point in checking it out every five minutes because the status will be the same.

The best thing is that you do not need to visit the IRS office or call them. In fact, you can check the status of your tax refund online and it is also free. So no additional money will be required.

Using the IRS tool known as the “Where is my Refund?” will be enough. Get an Internal Revenue Service online account to use it and learn more about a delayed tax refund in 2025. Plan a budget to avoid wasting your tax refund money!

Bear in mind that if you filed your 2024 tax return on April 1, 2025, you may not receive your refund until April 22, 2025. In general, the IRS takes about 21 days to issue your direct deposit. This is possible when you submit an accurate and complete refund electronically and you request direct deposit. Any errors in your tax return can delay the common processing times of your refund.
