Nestlé USA has issued a voluntary recall of several frozen meal products under its Lean Cuisine® and STOUFFER’S® brands following concerns over the potential presence of wood-like material. The company announced the move after receiving consumer complaints, including one report of a possible choking incident.

According to Nestlé, the affected items were produced between August 2024 and March 2025, and distributed across major U.S. retailers from September 2024 through March 2025. While the recall is limited in scope, it has prompted increased attention due to the nature of the contamination and Nestlé’s collaboration with both the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).

Products Included in the Recall

Nestlé clarified that the recall only involves select batches of four specific products. No other Lean Cuisine® or STOUFFER’S® items are affected. The recalled meals and their corresponding batch numbers and best-before dates are as follows:

  • Lean Cuisine® Butternut Squash Ravioli
    Batch Numbers: 4261595912 (OCT2025), 4283595912 (NOV2025), 4356595912 (JAN2026), 5018595912 (FEB2026), 5038595912 (MAR2026)
  • Lean Cuisine® Spinach Artichoke Ravioli
    Batch Numbers: 4311595912 (DEC2025), 5002595912 (FEB2026), 5037595912 (MAR2026), 5064595912 (APR2026)
  • Lean Cuisine® Lemon Garlic Shrimp Stir Fry
    Batch Number: 4214595511 (SEPT2025)
  • STOUFFER’S® Party Size Chicken Lasagna (96 oz)
    Batch Numbers: 4262595915 (OCT2025), 4351595915 (JAN2026), 5051595915 and 5052595915 (MAR2026)

Consumers can identify the impacted items by locating the 10-digit batch code printed on the side of the packaging, just before the best-before date.

What Consumers Should Do

Consumers are strongly advised not to prepare or eat the affected products. Instead, they should return them to the store where they were purchased to receive a full refund or replacement.

For additional support or questions, Nestlé USA can be reached at (800) 681-1676, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. EST.

Nestlé emphasized that it is actively investigating the source of the issue and believes it to be an isolated case. “The quality, safety, and integrity of our products remain our top priority,” the company stated. “We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause to our consumers and retail partners.”

The FDA has published the announcement as a public service but has not endorsed the product or the company involved.
