The Supplemental Security Income benefit is a great Federal Program for eligible Americans with a low income. SSI can only be for those who have both a limited income, but also limited resources and live in the United States.

SSI payments can be up to $967 if you are an individual. However, this payment could be much higher if you are an eligible married couple and you both qualify for this Federal payment.

 SSI benefit amounts

Households of 2 can get up to $1,450 if they are married. Nevertheless, it will depend on your personal situation whether you can receive the full Supplemental Security Income amount or not.

For example, if you both are receiving Social Security retirement benefits, you may not get the full amount because you have other sources of income. Some recipients do not qualify as individuals or married couples. They are essential persons and they can get up to $484.

To get SSI you must:

  • be blind
  • have a qualifying disability
  • be at least 65 years old

SSI payments worth up to $1,450 on April 1

According to the Social Security Administration’s payment schedule, the next day eligible married couples can get up to $1,450 will be April 1, 2025. It will also be the same payday if you are an individual or an essential person.

All Supplemental Security Income payments are expected to be on time. However, if your bank or financial institution does not have enough time to process your payment and it arrives late, contact them.

Only contact the Social Security Administration if your Supplemental Security Income payment has not been delivered after three mailing days. Remember that to get the April 1 payment you must have filed and received SSA’s approval.

Not on SSI yet? Check your eligibility online at the official website and find out if you can receive a monthly payment of up to $1,450: https://www.ssa.gov/ssi/eligibility
