SSDI Back Pay: The Five-Month Wait and the 12-Month Limit That Decide What Lands in Your Account

RSDI payments are essential for millions of citizens in the United States. Check if you qualify for any of the three remaining paydays the Social Security Administration has set in the United States.

In mid March, RSDI recipients can get a payment on the 12th. It will be the same payday for Retirement, Survivor and Disability Insurance benefits. Those on SSI and those who began getting benefits before May 1997 are not eligible.

Eligibility for RSDI in mid and late March

The mid-March payment will take place on the 12th for those whose birth date is from the first to the tenth. Then, there will be another payment date on the third Wednesday in March.

In fact, it will be on March 19 when those born from 11-20 will get money from the Social Security Administration. The last RSDI recipients who get money from SSA will be those born from 21-31.

  • RSDI payments due on March 12: birthday from 1-10
  • Payments due on March 19: birthday from 11-20
  • payments due on March 26: birthday from 21-31

How much could RSDI receive on average?

The lowest average payments will be for Survivors. As a matter of fact, they can receive about $1,546 on average as of January 2025. All the survivor benefits, like retirement and SSDI payments, include the 2025 COLA increase in March.

Thus, if this is the first RSDI payment you get in 2025, it will be 2.5% higher than what it would have been in 2024. SSDI recipients can get about $1,580 if they are workers with a disability.

Retirees can get about $1,978 on average from Social Security although the Administration can send payments of up to $5,108. This is the highest benefit payment for retirees in 2025. To get it, you must have filed at the age of 70.

It will allow you to benefit from delayed credits which can boost up to 24% extra per month. Earning the taxable maximum for 35 years in jobs covered by SSA is mandatory.
