Social Security payment for retirees in early March

The Social Security’s payment schedule confirms a new payday on March 3, 2025. If you were not on retirement benefits before May 1997, you may still have a chance of getting a payment on this day, although it may be lower than average.

The Administration has confirmed that only two groups of retirees can receive the monthly payment on the 3rd. If you have been on benefits for 28 years, that is, since before May 1197, you are one of the eligible recipients.

SSI recipients who get Social Security simultaneously

If you are a Supplemental Security Income recipient and you are also collecting retirement benefit payments, March 3, 2025, will also be the day when you receive money from the Agency in your bank account.

The thing is you can receive an SSI payment on February 28, and a retirement benefit payment on March 3, 2025. So, you will not have to wait long for the second payment.

SSI should have arrived on March 1, but it is Saturday. Therefore, it was scheduled for the previous business day to avoid delays. Now, it is time to focus on the Social Security payment amounts on March 3, 2025.

Amounts for Social Security checks on the 3rd

The amount of your check could be up to $5,108. However, it is unlikely because you must have worked for 35 years in jobs covered by SSA and earned the taxable maximum all those years when you file at 70.

Those who have filed at Full Retirement Age, also known as normal retirement age, can get up to $4,018. Only those who file at 62 get a reduction of up to 30%.

If you have filed at the age of 62 you can get up to $2,831. The average Social Security payment for all retired workers is about $1,978. All the March 3 payments include the 2025 COLA increase, so checks and direct deposits will be 2.5% higher than in 2024.
