IRS reminders in the 2025 tax season

Many taxpayers are too busy to pay close attention to the IRS‘s latest information. However, they are so important that they will be beneficial from a financial point of view. For example, victims of wildfires that started on January 7, 2025, in the State of California will now have until October 15, 2025, to file various individual and business tax returns.

The best thing about this time extension for eligible victims of wildfires in California is that it also implies extra time to make payments until Oc. 15, 2025. this is part of the IRS tax relief program.

IRS reminds taxpayers of increasing texting scams

Millions of Americans may have received a text message on their mobile phones from scammers. Many of them deal with Economic Impact payments, most commonly known as stimulus checks in the United States.

Be wary of bad tax advice or scams that claim there is a way to get a bigger refund. These scams usually come in the form of an email, or text message. However, it is also common to receive a letter or even a call.

Never provide personal information to unrequested calls, text messages, emails, or letters. It would be best to visit the IRS official website and look for the phone number to contact them. Using your IRS account to check for new messages can also be helpful.

IRS’ deadline to claim 2021 stimulus check

Some taxpayers who filed a 2021 tax return and had not claimed the stimulus check for 2021 may have already received a surprising payment by late January.

If you have not filed a 2021 tax return and you are eligible for the stimulus check for 2021, you can still file and claim it. However, the IRS claims that it will only be up to April 15, 2025.

The final deadline to claim the Recovery Rebate Credit will be April 15, 2025. Thus, it will be over in less than 3 months. Time flies, so do not put it off and hire a tax preparer to help you get this money if you meet the requirements the IRS set.
