Social Security Payments in November 2025: What Will Happen to Your Money During the Government Shutdown

IRS Announces 2026 Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) Increase to $8,231

Not only has scheduled the Social Security Administration (SSA) a monthly payment on January 31, but also another one on February 28, 2025. Still, they are not extra payments since they are checks issued ahead of schedule because of SSA rules.

For your information, the Agency must always deliver SSI payments on business days. Therefore, Saturday, February 1 and Saturday, March 1 cannot be the paydays for these Federal payments in the United States.

Who will receive an SSI payment on January 31, 2025?

This payday will be the only one for all recipients. Hence, if you remain eligible and previously got approval, you are about to get your next Supplemental Security Income payment. Save this money for the next month, February, because you will get it 24 hours in advance.

The SSI program is only for Americans with a low income. No doubt the Social Security Administration will check the resources you have as well.

What is more, you must have at least one of these three conditions:

  • be at least 65 years old, so older seniors also may qualify
  • be blind
  • have a qualifying disability

SSI payment amounts for the February check

The Social Security Administration has confirmed that the maximum amount an individual can receive is $967 after the 2025 COLA increase. This Cost-of-Living Adjustment will be sent in all the 2025 payments.

Thus, SSI recipients will get 2.5% more than in their 2024 payments. Eligible married couples, if both qualify, will receive up to $1,450. Average payments are about $696 as of December 2024 claimed Social Security.

Some States provide supplementary payments to SSI recipients. So, this could be another way to receive extra money.

If you do not lose your eligibility, the Social Security Administration has announced a new payment for February 28, 2025. It will not be until April when SSI recipients get their check or direct deposit on the first day of the month.
