February 17 is a Federal Holiday. Therefore, all Social Security offices will be closed. They will not be open because it is when Americans celebrate Presidents Day or Washington’s Birthday.

For your information, Social Security cannot issue any payments or schedule them on Federal Holidays. Thus, if February 17 fell on a normal payday, the Administration would have had to change it to the previous business day.

Social Security offices will not be open on Feb. 17

Although SSA offices will be closed on February 17, there are many things you can do on their website. Thus, you can simply visit it or ask someone to help you do so.

For your information, the Social Security Administration still accepts walk-ins. However, it is not advisable because you will waste a great deal of time standing in line.

So, you should make an appointment if you are not keen to use the online services the Agency offers. As a matter of fact, you can call SSA at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778) to schedule, reschedule, or cancel an appointment.

Are Social Security online services available on Presidents Day?

Since February 17 is a Federal Holiday and offices will be closed, you can do all sorts of tasks online. There are no restrictions, so all online services will be available despite being a national holiday.

  • find out aspects of Social Security on their FAQs
  • replace your Medicare/SSA card
  • Print Forms like 1099
  • Get proof of benefits
  • request direct deposits
  • inform SSA of your new home address
  • appeal a decision
  • Apply for disability, retirement, or Medicare benefits
  • have a look at your application status
  • check your earnings history
  • download your annual statement

The Social Security Administration also has several calculators to see future benefit amounts. Finding eligibility will also be possible online if you are not sure if you qualify or not.
