Oil revenues are turned into stimulus checks for Alaskans

Alaska’s Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD) for 2025 has been set at a specific amount of $1,000 for each eligible resident. This annual stimulus check, funded primarily by the state’s oil revenues, will begin distribution in October. The disbursement sequence will prioritize applicants who used digital application methods and opted for wire transfer as their payment method.

The official schedule details that the first group of beneficiaries started receiving their funds on October 2, 2025. This initial stimulus checks disbursement is reserved exclusively for individuals who applied electronically and selected direct deposit.

To be included in this first wave, an individual’s application must have reached “Eligible-Not Paid” status by September 18, 2025.

Upcoming PFD stimulus checks rounds of payments

A second payment date is scheduled for October 23, 2025. This group will include applicants who submitted their paperwork or chose to receive a paper check. It will also include electronic applications that, for various processing reasons, did not reach eligibility status by the initial cutoff date. The application status should show “Eligible-Not Paid” as of October 13.

Subsequent payments, corresponding to the months of November and December, will be issued for applications that reach eligibility after the October disbursement cutoff dates. The process is continuous throughout the fiscal year.

If an application has not been approved and is not in the “Eligible” status by a specific cutoff date, payment will be automatically delayed until the next monthly distribution cycle. Payments are not made outside of this pre-established schedule. Applicants are notified of their payment via email or postal mail.

Eligibility criteria to claim the PFD stimulus checks

More than 600,000 Alaskans are expected to receive the benefit throughout the year. The $1,000 amount for 2025 is only the base dividend adjusted for applicable legal and financial parameters, not including additional federal or state aid components.

To be considered eligible for the 2025 PFD, an applicant must demonstrate that they have been an Alaska resident for the entire calendar year prior to submitting the application. This residency requirement is strict and must be met without significant interruptions. The 2025 application must have been submitted by March 31, 2025.

The applicant’s legal status is also considered: Individuals who have been incarcerated as a result of a felony conviction during any part of the eligibility year are automatically disqualified from receiving payment for that period.

For minors, the application must be processed and submitted by a parent, legal guardian, or authorized “notator.” These representatives are responsible for ensuring all requirements are met on behalf of the minor and for processing payment once approved.

How to verify your stimulus check status

The Alaska Department of Revenue encourages all applicants to regularly check the status of their application through the official portal pfd.alaska.gov. To access, you must enter your Social Security number and date of birth. This platform displays the updated status of your application and any required action.

Always check that your contact and banking information is up-to-date. Any change of address or bank account for direct deposit should be reported immediately to the system to avoid any setbacks in the transfer of funds.

For specific questions or problems with an application, the Department of Revenue has set up a phone number, 907-465-7000, and information is available on its official website. Direct communication is the best way to resolve discrepancies or clarify questions about eligibility status.
