SSI beneficiaries will be the first Americans on disability benefits to get a check or direct deposit from the Federal Government. The Administration’s payment schedule has confirmed that Supplemental Security Income will be paid on April 1, 2025.
For your information, this will be the payday for 3 different types of recipients. Those who qualify for having a disability, but also for those who qualified for being at least 65 years old or because they are blind. The 3 groups have in common that they have a limited income and little to no resources.
SSI arrives 2 days before SSDI payments
SSDI payments are usually sent on the third day of the month. Since there are no changes, April 3 will be the first payday for Disability Insurance recipients who:
- began collecting Social Security Disability Insurance before May 1997
- received SSI on April 1 and qualified for SSDI as well
Some SSDI recipients do not qualify for the first payday. Therefore, they must wait for their monthly payments to arrive on April 9, 16 or 23. Their birth date will be essential to determine payday eligibility.
SSI payments of up to $1,450
If you are an eligible married couple, you could receive up to $1,450 on April 1. This will be the maximum amount for the Supplemental Security Income beneficiaries in the U.S.
An individual can receive up to $967 from the Federal Government. However, an average payment may be likely for many other recipients who are not entitled to the full amount.
Reductions are frequent because many SSI recipients are on retirement or SSDI payments simultaneously. SSDI beneficiaries get about $1,580 on average. Only high earners can receive up to $4,018 from Social Security.
All the April payments will be delivered on time. So check on April 1 (for Supplemental Security) or April 3 (for SSDI) your bank account. Plan your budget because it will help you save money and make the most of your monthly direct deposit or check.
