IRS refunds are higher so far

The average refund amount is $3,271 and the average direct deposit is about $3,330. The amount of your 2024 tax refund will depend on different factors. For example, the IRS will check your income, tax credits claimed, and withholdings.

Some recipients may qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit full amount. Hence, their payment will be higher than average. Some families with dependents may be eligible for the Child Tax Credit. And these are just a couple of examples.

How to get a fast tax refund from the IRS in 2025
