The Agency<\/strong> would like to inform SSA<\/strong> users, recipients, or applicants that recent reports in the media that the SSA is permanently closing local field offices are false.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Since January 1, 2025, the Administration has not permanently closed<\/strong> any local field office. What is more, SSA has not announced these permanent closures either.<\/p>\n

For your information, the Social Security Administration<\/strong> must temporarily<\/strong> close\u00a0<\/strong>a local field office. However, it is done for reasons like damage, facility issues, severe weather conditions and so on.<\/p>\n

Has the Social Security Administration announced any permanent closures?<\/h2>\n

As a matter of fact, the Administration has claimed that there has been 1 permanent closure<\/strong> of 1 hearing office. This hearing office is located in White Plains, New York.<\/p>\n

Do not worry because the Social Security Administration<\/strong> always works closely with local congressional delegations. SSA<\/strong> always does so before closing any office permanently.<\/p>\n

What is more, the Social Security Administration<\/strong> reassigns employees from an affected office. In this way, SSA<\/strong> can continue offering the local community in-person services.<\/p>\n

The Agency is committed to giving service<\/strong> wherever users need help and support. Hence, SSA<\/strong> local field offices are no exception stated the Acting Commissioner of Social Security Lee Dudek.<\/p>\n
