As of March 14, 2025, the average refund amount is <strong>$3,271<\/strong>. That is about 5.2% more than in 2024 on a similar date.<\/p>\n<p>What is more, the <strong>average direct deposit refund<\/strong> amount is also higher in 2025. As a matter of fact, taxpayers have received <strong>$3,330<\/strong> on average. But which amount is higher, <strong>IRS<\/strong> refunds or PFD payments in Alaska?<\/p>\n<h2>IRS direct deposit vs PFD payments<\/h2>\n<p><strong>PFD payments<\/strong> are only sent in Alaska to eligible recipients. This money comes from the Permanent Fund Dividend and you can apply through March 31, 2025. The next payday will be due on April 17, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>maximum PFD payment<\/strong> will be <strong>$1,702<\/strong>. Therefore, <strong>IRS<\/strong> tax refunds are higher in both maximum and average amounts. Since stimulus checks are over for most Americans, it is time to apply for any refund, rebate, or PFD payment you qualify for.<\/p>\n<p>While the<strong> PFD payments<\/strong> only have two paydays on schedule (<strong>April 17 and May 15<\/strong>), the IRS will be paying for a longer period of time. Those who file electronically and request direct deposit usually receive their direct deposit within 21 days.<\/p>\n<h2>IRS Payment schedule for early April<\/h2>\n<p>In order to receive your 2024 tax refund on April 1, you must have filed at least 21 days before this date.
