For your information, this Federal program<\/strong> can provide you with benefits even if you are on Social Security<\/strong> (RSDI) retirement, survivor, or disability insurance benefits. That is why there can be big differences in payment amounts by age.<\/p>\n

SSI average payments for seniors 65+<\/h2>\n

Retired workers can receive Social Security benefits<\/strong> at the age of 62. However, to get retirement payments they must have paid enough Social Security<\/strong> taxes. Still, many seniors aged 65<\/strong> are already receiving retirement<\/strong> benefits.<\/p>\n

As a consequence, their average SSI payment<\/strong> is the lowest of the 3 age groups. As of January 2024, the average payment for seniors aged 65 or older is $590. Even with the 2025 COLA increase, this is the lowest amount.<\/p>\n

If compared to the average payment for all Supplemental Security Income recipients, it is $124 lower<\/strong>. Those recipients who still cannot make ends meet can also apply for other benefits like SNAP or TANF.<\/p>\n

SSI average payments for under 65-year-olds<\/h2>\n

Now you know that the average for 65+ is $590<\/strong>, it is time to discover how much you could get if aged 18-64<\/strong>. As a matter of fact, the Social Security<\/strong> Administration Monthly Statistical Snapshot stated that it is $762.<\/p>\n

Good news if you belong to this age group and you have not filed yet because the prospects are good. Nevertheless, it could be even higher if you are under the age of 18.<\/p>\n
