The IRS<\/strong> has recently made an important announcement. There will be tax relief for taxpayers<\/strong> who were impacted by wildfires<\/strong> in the State of California.<\/strong> For your information, the Agency<\/strong> states that several deadlines have been postponed to October 15<\/strong>, 2025.<\/p>\n

The good news is that this tax relief will be for both businesses and individuals in some parts of California.<\/strong> Of course, your area must have been affected by straight-line winds<\/strong> and wildfires<\/strong> that started on January 7, 2025.<\/p>\n

IRS announces more than that<\/h2>\n

If you were affected by the wildfires in some part of California on January 7, 2025, you now have until October 15, 2025<\/strong>, to file<\/strong> several federal individual and business tax returns,<\/strong> and most importantly, to make tax payments<\/strong> as well.<\/p>\n

This tax relief comes after FEMA’s<\/strong> (the Federal Emergency Management Agency) disaster declaration. Thus, if you are currently living in Los Angeles County<\/strong> or you have a business in that area you qualify for these changes.<\/p>\n

Once a FEMA<\/strong> declaration is made, the IRS<\/strong> can allow taxpayers to get an automatic time extension and also allows them to postpone tax-payment deadlines. Of course, you must be living in a disaster area and affected by wildfires.<\/p>\n

When is the IRS deadline to file your 2024 tax return if you are not affected by wildfires?<\/h2>\n

The deadline to file the 2024 federal income tax return if you do not qualify for tax relief<\/strong> is April 15, 2025<\/strong>. Therefore, you should have filed and make any tax payments you owe the IRS before the deadline comes to an end.<\/p>\n

Bear in mind that there are more deadlines<\/strong> postponed if you qualify for tax relief in California.<\/strong> As a matter of fact, this tax relief also applies to:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • the 2024 estimated tax payment<\/strong> which is normally due on January 15, 2025<\/li>\n
  • and estimated tax payments which are normally due on:\n
      \n
    • April 15, <\/strong><\/li>\n
    • June 16, and <\/strong><\/li>\n
    • September 15, 2025<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
