There are 2 completely different ways to be eligible for a <strong>check or direct deposit<\/strong> on February 3 if you are a survivor.<\/p>\n<h2>Social Security survivor benefits on Feb. 3: Eligibility<\/h2>\n<p>The first way to be eligible for survivor benefits on <strong>February 3<\/strong> is to have been receiving Social Security since before May 1997. Therefore, February 3 will not be your next payday if you began collecting survivor benefits after April 30, 1997, unless you are in the following situation.<\/p>\n<p>For your information, a way to avoid this restriction is to be receiving<strong> Social Security benefits<\/strong> and <strong>SSI payments<\/strong> at the same time. Do you receive both benefits simultaneously?<\/p>\n<p>If so, your next <strong>survivor benefit<\/strong> will be in your bank account on February 3 as well. Do not worry if you are receiving survivor benefits but you do not qualify for the February 3 payment. Actually, there will be other paydays on February 12, 19 and 26, 2025.<\/p>\n<h2>Social Security updates survivors average amounts<\/h2>\n<p>It was this month when the<strong> Social Security Administration<\/strong> unveiled the new average payments for all sorts of benefits in the United States. As of December 2024, the average payment for all survivor benefits is <strong>$1,545<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>However, there are other possible average amounts depending on your situation. Children who qualify for<strong> survivor benefits<\/strong> will receive about $1,333.60 on average claimed SSA.<\/p>\n<p>Widowed mothers and fathers receive about <strong>$1,316.11<\/strong> on average from the Administration. Nondisabled widow(er)s receive about <strong>$1,832.47<\/strong> from the Agency. If you are a disabled widow(er), your average payment for survivor benefits is about <strong>$951.06<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Parents receiving survivor benefits get about <strong>$1,675<\/strong> on average.
