than 1.8 million households, and <strong>the average approved benefit is $181.44.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>SNAP benefits in Texas are distributed between January 1 and 28, using a tiered system based on each household&#8217;s <strong>Eligibility Determination (EDG) number<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>Texas SNAP Beneficiaries Approved BEFORE June 1, 2020<\/h2>\n<p>Households whose eligibility was defined The actual benefit depends on household size, income, and allowable deductions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Household Size and\u00a0Maximum Monthly Benefit (Oct 2025 &#8211; Sep 2026)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><strong>1-person household:<\/strong>\u00a0$298 per month<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><strong>2-person household:<\/strong>\u00a0$546 per month<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><strong>3-person household:<\/strong>\u00a0$785 per month<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><strong>4-person household:<\/strong>\u00a0$994 per month<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><strong>5-person household:<\/strong>\u00a0$1,183 per month<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><strong>6-person household:<\/strong>\u00a0$1,421 per month<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><strong>7-person household:<\/strong>\u00a0$1,571 per month<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><strong>8-person household:<\/strong>\u00a0$1,789 per month<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><strong>Each additional person:<\/strong> Add $218 per month<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><strong>The minimum<\/strong> monthly amount for a household of 1 or 2 people is $24.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Important Changes to SNAP Rules for 2026<\/p>\n<h2>Two major changes will affect the SNAP program starting in 2026<\/h2>\n<p><strong>New Work Requirements (Effective in 2026):<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Federal rules will expand work requirements for eligible adults without dependents, raising the age limit to include adults up to age 64. Participants must work or be in a training program for at least 80 hours per month to maintain their eligibility.<\/p>\n<p><strong>New Purchase Restrictions:<\/strong> Several states, including Texas, have received federal approval to restrict the purchase of certain items with SNAP benefits.
