Several states offer additional benefits\u2014California, for example, provides one of the highest supplements, which can add up to <strong>more than $200 extra<\/strong> for some recipients.<\/p>\n<h2>Who Qualifies for SSI in 2025\u20132026<\/h2>\n<p>SSI is a need-based program that supports:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Adults over <strong>65<\/strong> with limited income and resources<\/li>\n<li>People who are <strong>blind<\/strong> or have limited vision<\/li>\n<li>Individuals with a <strong>disability<\/strong> that prevents substantial work<\/li>\n<li><strong>Children<\/strong> with severe disabilities that affect daily functioning<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Eligibility is not tied to past work history.
