Social Security Unveils the RSDI Payment Schedule for 2026

SSA has released the 2026 RSDI payment schedule. Social Security retirement benefits can be obtained at the age of 62. In order to receive a larger payment as a retiree, you can continue working until you are 70. That is the moment when your benefits stop growing. Disability Insurance benefits can be received at a younger age as long as you paid enough taxes and have a medical condition.

Survivor benefits are for those family members who can get Social Security on the worker’s record. So, these are the three types of payments RSDI provides Americans with; Retirement, Survivor, and Disability Insurance. Every new payment schedule brings some surprises throughout the year. So, it is time to check it out.

RSDI payment schedule from January through June

RSDI payments for those on benefits before May 1997 or if receiving Social Security and SSI are generally paid on the third. However, the January payment will be deposited on Friday, January 2, 2026. The February, March, April, and June paydays will be on the third. The second change will take place on May 1, when the May third will be sent.

If you started collecting Social Security benefits after April 30, 1997, then you will receive your payments on the second, third, and fourth Wednesday of the month. From January through June, this rule will apply. Here are the possible paydays per month:

RSDI payment schedule from July through December

If you qualify for RSDI on the third of the month, you need to know that there will be an important change in July. There will be no payment on the 3rd but on July 2, 2026. This is because the Social Security Administration always issues payments on business days, and the third is a Federal holiday. Although it is on July 4, Independence Day, it will be a holiday on Friday because it falls on a Saturday.

The RSDI payments on the third will take place in August, September, November, and December. October will have another change. Instead of October 3, the actual payday will be on October 2, 2026. As the third is Saturday, the payment must be sent on the previous business day.

Wednesday payment schedule from July-December

Some RSDI recipients are also entitled to Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments. The first SSI direct deposit (for January 1, 2026) will be delivered on December 31, 2025. The February payment will also be sent on January 30, so ahead of schedule.  These Federal program generally issues payments on the first day of the month, unless the payday falls on the weekend or on a Federal holiday.
