What does the IRS offer taxpayers in 2025?

If you are an eligible taxpayer, you could take advantage of the IRS Free File service. Apart from that, you could also use IRS Direct File. Taxpayers may also want to give it a go at the VITA program.

VITA stands for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance. What is more, eligible seniors may also want to make use of the TCE program. It is the Tax Counseling for the Elderly.

MilTax is a program that belongs to the Department of Defense program. As you may have guessed, members of the military and even some Veterans can make use of it. The good news is that there is no income limit if you qualify. For more details visit: https://www.militaryonesource.mil/financial-legal/taxes/miltax-military-tax-services/

Who can use IRS Free File and Direct File?

IRS Free File is only for taxpayers with income of $84,000 or less in 2024. If your earnings are below or equal to that limit, you will be able to take advantage of the Guided Tax Software.

It will be available through October 15 because some taxpayers may apply for an extension of time to file. IRS Fillable Forms are free for all taxpayers regardless of the income you may have.

Direct File is only available in 25 States. It can be used by eligible taxpayers to file online directly with the Internal Revenue Service at no cost. It is available in both Spanish and English. VITA is for those whose earnings are $67,000 or less. TEC is for seniors aged 60+ and it is free.
